Learning unix shell scripting?

I gotta learn how to program unix shell scripts and do funky **** with unix for this cl I'm doing. The problem is that Everyone in my cl used to do this stuff in their free time for fun but its all new to me. Are there any websites which cover everything I should need for a semester long university unit starting from the most basic **** like "what is shell scripting"
